Just This Side of Pavo
©️2025 Bo Edwards
She grabbed herself a Kleenex, set out to take a ride
Down a lonely country road, the tears she couldn’t hide
Cotton miles brought back a smile, that’s when her engine died
Just this side of Pavo a lady sat and cried
He grabbed his favorite faded hat, climbed into his truck
And found himself Route 33, cussing that old clutch
He stripped a gear to miss a deer, call it more than luck
Just this side of Pavo, old Cupid took a shot
Chorus
Just this side of Pavo, north of Thomasville
Valentine’s Day ‘63, near a cotton field
A knight rescued a damsel many years ago
That’s how Mom refers to Dad, just this side of Pavo
She grabs herself a Kleenex, the tears she cannot hide
She and me, Route 33, to where her engine died
She’s his damsel in distress, will always be, I know
Till she lies with him at rest, just this side of Pavo
