Backstory:
Years back, I found myself in Baton Rouge for my buddy, CJ Solar’s first CD release party, CJ has written a couple #1 hits including Morgan Wallen "Up Down" and has had a number of his songs picked up by Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Jerrod Neiman. Not to mention he's written quite a few amazing songs for himself including his new single "Sky Falls Down", and releasing tomorrow Friday May 16th. 2025 his next single "10,000 Lighters" on all digital platforms.
CJ and his family were friends with David St. Romain-someone I was already a fan of after watching him on Nashville Star Season 5, especially when his opening song for the show was Pat Green's "Wave on Wave".
CJ and I decided to head over and write some songs with David. As we tossed around song title ideas, I mentioned “Damn Skippy.” The second David heard it, he said, “We are writing that one.” So here it is-our original song, “Damn Skippy.”
This track is all about celebrating the simple, honest, and downright good life we love. It’s a tribute to small-town living, family traditions, and the pride we take in our roots. Hope y’all enjoy it!

Shawn Ash is a singer/songwriter based in Lake County, Florida. He has been crafting original music and sharing his talent with various bands since his early 20s. In 2010, Shawn took a significant step in his music career when he signed with a reputable record label in Atlanta, Georgia. It was during this time that he recorded "Don't Take the Beer," a track that made its way to radio waves and is still available for listening on YouTube.
Shawn's performances have become a regular feature in The Villages, Florida, where he graces the stages of various bars and country clubs.
Interestingly, the record label he joined, Reign Forever Group, had a strong presence in the Hip-Hop, Rap, and R&B genres. However, Shawn's unique musical talent caught the attention of the label's owner, Harold "Self" Chisholm. After witnessing one of Shawn's performances in a contest, Harold was so impressed that he decided to sign him. This collaboration led to the creation of Shawn's debut single, "Don't Take the Beer," a collaborative effort with his friend CJ Solar. The song made waves on radio and digital media charts, proving Shawn's potential in the music industry.
But Shawn's musical journey took an unexpected turn in 2012 when he faced some personal life events. As a result, he made the decision to relocate to Orlando, Florida, to be closer to his family.
In 2013, Shawn's life took a positive turn when he met the love of his life. Encouraged by her unwavering support, he rekindled his passion for writing, singing, and performing.
Today, Shawn Ash is a regular performer in The Villages, where he graces the squares (Brownwood, Lake Sumter, and Spanish Springs), bars (City Fire, Cody's, Legacy Poolside), various country clubs, and even Whispering Oaks Winery in Oxford, Florida. His music continues to captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression wherever he performs.
