Hello!

Some of you may wonder why we aren't set up specifically for you to sell licenses for people to do cuts on your songs. Well, we've been through that, and found that it dirtied up the water on original songs. When you sell a copyright on a song, the buyers usually want to know that the song is clean--no cuts of any kind. The same is true for major players in the business who might want the first cut of the song by license. So, the major artist or the buyer wants to be the first to cut it.  There are websites out there that you can join to sell covers on these songs, but we don't recommend it. You make very little money, and again, the songs get dirtied up if you do sell random licenses.  And you may not have any idea who even bought the license, because is was sold by the site. You may get a name, but that really doesn't normally mean much.

If you cut the song yourself and do streaming sales, that's your business, and that's okay.  But then again, you have dirtied up the waters for your copyright sales and major license sales when you do this. So, you need to disclose that when you go to sell the copyright of a song that's been sold on streaming sites, including this one.  It's just best to be transparent.

The above may not hold true, as the buyer may not care if the song isn't really well known. And, lots of Artists cut songs that have been cut before. Like songwriting itself, what gets cut is very subjective. But in any case, it can't get cut if the artist doesn't have the opportunity to hear the song. And that's where Songpress Music comes in. Although there is much more to Songpress Music than making the song available to be heard. Songpress Music is also about getting the song ready to be heard, then giving it the potential to be heard. That's the subject of another blog entry or more!

Now, this also gets a little hairy when you post songs for sale on here, because people get to listen to them before buying them, which is streaming. Well, that's part of the deal and they know that when they buy. However, the site is locked down to members only viewing and listening, and you can also keep your profile private and only invite who you want to listen to your songs on here.  Plus, we even require Fans to pay a small fee to join the site, just to minimize the potential for visitors and low-level members to stream and steal the ideas of your songs. But, it's still an honor system to an extent, and we depend on people to be honest. Yes, there's a risk, but you face that risk even more if people don't have a little skin in the game.

So, that's our basic philosophy and a part on why we charge Fans for membership on Songpress. We also charge because as users, they are potentially in need of support services and they have other features available to them.  And not meaning to digress, that will be the subject of another blog entry.

As of 5/16/25, we are well on our way to establishing the premier songwriters website of the world. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!  I believe in this site, and I believe in me to get it where it needs to go. We've made great progress in securing the site for the users' protection, in providing the most feature-packed site of its type in the world, an in ensuring a user friendly and stable platform for our membership.  We are very proud of Songpress Music, and those who join us, will understand why!

As of 4/20/25, the site is up and running well.  We don't have a lot of users yet, but those that we do have are being very quiet. I hope that's a good sign that they aren't running into problems! I've been organizing and expanding the capabilities of the site, and working with the program develpers to improve it.  Most of the effort has been with respect to the Sitewide Forums and Service Providers sections of the Menu, and with the functions of Audio.  With developer assistance, I've added fields and functions to prepare Audio for peer reviews, for copyright sales, and for search functionality.  There is still a lot of work to be done, especially in the documentation and FAQ areas, but the site is well on its way!

As of 4/9/0225, this site is currently being built. I hope to have it up and running soon,  However, it will not be complete for quite awhile yet.  It will take a bit of custom programming to finish it.  But when completed, it should be the most comprehensive music creation and selling site in existence. I'm hoping for a lot! I'm aiming very high!

As of 5/16/25, we now have four different Demo Song Producers available on our site.  All are very capable musicians who either sing themselves or provide great vocalists.  Site users will work directly with these producers to obtain their services.  Songpress Music takes no cut of the service providers' charges, and users can rate the services they receive so that we only provide referrals to quality producers. We in fact have used three-out-of-four of these producers, and I personally vouch for them!

As of 4/20/25, we have added two Demo Song Producers to the site!  We welcome Frank Michels of Nashville Song Demo and Jed Demlow of Jed Demlow Productions.  Both are very capable musicians and producers who can turn your songs into the sounds you've dreamed of!

Welcome to the World's first place where you can sell, hear, and/or buy original songs, instrumentals, beats, and original lyrics, all in one place. You can hear songs and music before they are cut by major stars. You can read the lyrics to new songs, or lyrics that have yet to be made into songs. Plus, you can rate all of these for how much you like them. And, you can even chat with the artists who create these works!  You can promote yourself as a singer, musician, or songwriter with a URL to send MEMBERS directly to your profile where you can post your songs, instrumentals, beats, and/or lyrics for them to hear, read, or buy.

This is a great place for musical acts that want to have their own new original songs.  No more just doing covers when you can own the works! Plus, this site is much more than all this.

Even Fans will be required to pay a small membership fee for access where they will gain user support, so they will have ability to listen, comment on, and rate the work of the singers, musicians, and songwriters. They can be members of groups or they can even create their own.

We still have some work to do, and that's why we offer a long trial period for new members, But this is intended to be the world's most complete music site for original songs, instrumentals, beats, and lyrics! This is a commission and royalty free site!  You keep all your commissions and/or royalties when you sell your copyrights for songs, music, lyrics, or beats through Songpress!  In fact, we will not be handling your monies for this at all. All sales will be processed between the buyer and the seller directly as with any classified ads sites. While the site will not accept any responsibility for their action, the site will allow reviews of buyers and sellers in order to weed out any dishonest individuals. Individuals who fail to properly complete transactions for which they have advertised, in accordance with those advertisements, will be removed from the site!

This site includes your ability for selling streaming of your music, but will not currently include the sales of licensing for songs/music/lyrics for cover and/or synch.  See the Blog for why!  And please note, should anyone want to buy a license for performing your work, they can contact you via Private Notes and negotiate that with you directly, if you are willing.

This is a group collaboration site for song/lyric writers to gain peer reviews.  Members will be able to comment on the songs/lyrics posted by others, and others will be able to comment on those that you post for this reason.

This is a site whereon songwriting group managers can create and manage their own groups.  This includes group memberships, group calendars, group communications, and much more.

For Artists and Musicians:

You will have all the features of the Fans subscription, plus:

Audio—You will have your own audio section to load as many and almost as large of songs, instrumentals, beats, and lyrics as you wish.  And you can control who is allowed to listen.

Blog—You will have your own Blog, so you can write about almost anything you want to and post it (there may be some limits to what will be acceptable on the site).

Events—as stated above, each user has their own Events Calendar.  Artists and bands can post their gigs, or any groups can post their meetings and activities.

File—Each user will have their own File posting and download tab, which can be used to have forms available or to post whatever documents or other things you want people to be able to download from your private profile.

Followers—You will have the ability to control who can follow you and view your profile and content.  Like Friends in Facebook.

Forum—Each user has their own personal Forum--this is great for group leaders to be able to interact with the groups they oversee.

Gallery—You will also have your own Picture Gallery.

General Forum—You will have access to a General forum. On the General forum, you can post and interact with the entire membership of Songpress except Fans.

Groups—Again, as said above, you will have ability to join or create groups on the site. Each user can create and manage their own Groups--really good for people like NSAI coordinators to manage and interact with their groups between regular meetings.  Groups includes a Group Forum and comment wall, plus the ability to be private or public and allow applicants.

Photo Album—You can create albums of your photographs that you upload.

Polls—You can participate in, create, and manage polls on the site to find out how other members feel about various things.

Products—This feature is incomplete as of now.  However, it will be completed in order that you will be able to sell things on the site to other members.  This may include lyrics, song copyrights, and other related items for songwriters, artists, and musicians.

Services—You will be able to sell services to other members on the site.

Video—You will also have your own Video gallery.  This will be for loading short videos for other members to view.

YouTube—You will have the ability to link your profile to YouTube videos.

For Songwriters:

You will have all the features of all other subscriptions, plus:

Songwriter’s Only forum—On the Songwriters forum, you can post and interact with just the other songwriters on the site!  With the songwriters Forum, you can post your lyrics or a song to get collaborative free and no-strings-attached feedback from the membership. It’s a free peer review.

For Bands/Groups:

All the same features of a songwriter, but separated for sorting and contacting purposes.

For songwriters, we already have four demo production companies listed on the Services menu, and we will be working on adding much more to our Services section.

All users have chat, private notes, support tickets, and more!  I also have big hopes and plans for much, much more as this site grows.

I’m working to explain how you can already sell streams and sell song licenses and copyrights. I also hope you will be able to allow pitch to publishers, gain pro mentoring evaluations, find songwriting collaborators, and much more.  I’m hoping to make many more connections in the music business since I now live in the Nashville area.  I have already made some!
